Felix Pets has been refining the process of creating allergen-free pets through gene-editing for over 20 years and has emerged as the leader in the field. With a portfolio of US patents Felix Pets uses its gene editing technology to target and eliminate the cat allergen gene – a truly disruptive technology!

The process begins by designing DNA Guides and cutting enzymes to target and remove the cat allergen gene in the nucleus of a single cell
Confirmation of the correct genetic edit is made by PCR amplification and gene sequencing
Once confirmation is made, the nucleus of the gene-edited cell is removed and transferred to an enucleated embryo
The modified embryo is then transferred to a surrogate cat where it grows and develop into a kitten
Two months later – healthy hypo-allergenic kittens!
Once a healthy colony of queens and toms have been established, additional kittens are produced through traditional breeding practices
