…”a new solution to cat allergies”

1995 - Dr. David Avner developed the idea of creating “allergen-free” pets through gene and gene product targeting to “knock-out” or “suppress” known allergens at the cellular level. The resulting animals no longer produce or secrete the functional allergen.

1995 - Patent application to the U.S. Patent and Trade Office for the creation of hypo-allergenic pets through genetic engineering.

1997— Articles submitted and published on the INEFFECTIVENSS of wipe on products and washing cats on the reduction of cat allergen. (The effectiveness of Allerpet/c in reducing the cat allergen Fel d 1; Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Sept. 1997: Evaluation of different techniques for washing cats: Quantitation of allergen removed from the cat and the effect on airborne Fel d I; Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Sept, 1997).

2000 - Transgenic Pets, LLC was crated in 2000 to explore the development of hypo-allergenic pets and other therapeutic applications of gene targeting in animals.

2001— Company contracts with Dr. Jerry Yang at University of Connecticut to produce the first allergen-free cats but had to withdraw support due to lack of funding.

2001 - Company’s work to produce allergen-free cats appears in the New York Times, CNN, National Public

Radio, BBC International, Reuters, New Science Magazine, The London Times, The Australian, and on local TV channels, radio stations, and newspapers throughout the world. 2002–

2004— Company focused on securing intellectual property.

2004 - Felix Pets, LLC a division of Transgenic Pets was incorporated in 2004 for the specific purpose of developing and selling allergen-free cats.

2005— Mr. Simon Brodie of Allerca, Inc. and Geneticas Life Sciences, Inc. agree to undisclosed settlement with Transgenic Pets after being taken to Federal District Court on charges of breach of confidential disclosure, deceptive trade practices, misappropriation of trade secrets, and tortuous interference with prospective business advantage. 2006 - present - Felix Pets negotiating a development agreement with one of the world’s premier genetic engineering companies to produce allergen-free cats.
